Curtis and Associates Counseling Services was founded by Tamitra Curtis and grew out of a burning desire to fill the voice in social service. Coming from a family of community activist, social workers and educators, she always wanted to improve the quality of life for those who had trouble accessing service.
Curtis and Associates will provide access by being a safe haven for the underserved populations, those struggling with drug addiction, mental illness, domestic violence, sexual abuse and those who need client-centered counseling to improve their lives. The agency targets clients residing in Robertson, Harris Ft. Bend, Galveston, Falls, Burleson, Washington, Madison, Leon, Grimes and Brazos County.
The agency began as a medical case-management program, serving infants, toddlers, children/adolescents and pregnant women get access to medical services, resources and parenting services. Services were expanded to include services to Child Protective Service’s parents who were dual diagnosed with severe mental illness and substance abuse history. The structure of therapy consisted of completed psycho-social assessments, developing individualized plans, assisting with interventions combined with client-centered skill-building, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, parenting skills, medication compliance and discharge planning.
Curtis and Associates Counseling Services has a contract with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to provide mental health counseling and substance abuse counseling, which includes individual, group, family therapy covering Harris County, Fort-Bend County, Galveston County, Brazos County, and Robertson County.
Curtis and Associates Counseling Services provides mental health services to Head Start children at Gulf Coast Service Association consisting of parent education, mental evaluation, general classroom observation and consultation/feedback to parent and staff, individual observation and review of records, staff development meetings and training, and crisis intervention.
Tamitra Curtis has worked in the social service arena for over 23 years, as an Administrator/Consultant/Trainer/Therapist/Case Manager. Tamitra Curtis is a LPHA (LPC) trained in mental health, domestic violence, anger-management, parenting skills, outreach strategies and housing strategies.
Ms. Curtis has experience with Ex-Offenders, Substance Abusers, Homeless Clients, HIV Clients, Mental Health Clients and general populations. She has supervised 20 + staff members and has a clear understanding of contract compliance and financial reporting.
Curtis and Associates has enjoyed positive reports of service delivery, while increasing in client caseload. Tamitra Curtis has worked for the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD, in the capacity of a case-manager from 2008-2009.
Ms. Tamitra Curtis got promoted to an LPHA providing individual counseling, crisis counseling, client-centered therapy, cognitive-therapy and motivational interviewing to individuals impacted by mental illness from 2009 thru 2011 at the Harris Center for Mental Illness and IDD. Finally, Tamitra Curtis, was recently hired as a Clinical Team Leader at Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD formerly named MHMRA of Harris County form June 2015 thru May 2016.
